The People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) won the elections in Urfa’ (Riha) Xelfetî (Halfeti) district. Party members celebrated the election victory by marching from the courthouse to the election office. Xelfetî Municipality co-mayor candidates Mehmet Karayılan and Saniye Bayram and the city MP, Ömer Öcalan, as well as many party members, attended the march.

Ömer Öcalan said: “We won with the people upright stance. This effort is the labor of all of you. We live brotherly with Turkmens and Kurds in Xelfetî. We offer this victory to our people, especially to our Leader."

Co-mayor candidates Saniye Bayram and Mehmet Karayılan said: "We took back what was ours."
