Message from Kışanak

Imprisoned in Kandıra Prison for 8 years, former Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Gültan Kışanak sent a message through her lawyers regarding her nomination as a co-mayoral candidate.

Gültan Kışanak's message is as follows:

"Dear peoples, I would like to state that I have accepted our party's nomination as co-mayoral candidate for Ankara Metropolitan Municipality as a requirement of my responsibility to you.

Our problems, especially the Kurdish question and the women's liberation issue, needed to be discussed at the source, in Ankara. We are setting out to build bridges of social peace from Diyarbakır to Ankara and from Ankara to all four corners of Turkey.

I invite you, everyone who believes in peace, democracy and freedom, to take the initiative in this struggle and wish you success in advance."
