According to a report by Mihemed Belut for Al-Sefîr newspaper in Lebanon, a Deputy Undersecretary of Turkish Intelligence Service (MIT) met with Syrian intelligence officials in Damascus yesterday.
According to the report which is grounded on 'reliable sources', the Turkish MIT official had talks with top officials from the Syrian intelligence service (Al-Mukhabarat). The report quotes the same sources as saying that the meeting witnessed a discussion of the most recent developments in northern Syria, Rojava.
Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım stated recently that “Bashar al-Assad can stay in power during the period of transition government”.
The government of Turkey is recently seeking reconciliation with the Damascus government on an anti-Kurdish basis. It is talked about that Turkey is now trying to reach an agreement with Damascus through Iran and Russia.
