Zilan Women's Festival will be held in Gelsenkirchen on 17 June

TJK-E member Nûpel Munzur said that they want to highlight national culture at the Zilan Women's Festival that will be held in Gelsenkirchen.

TJK-E (European Kurdish Women's Movement) member Nûpel Munzur, said that the Zilan Women's Festival, the biggest gathering of Kurdish women in Germany, will be organized in memory of the martyrs of the Kurdish Women's Movement, and added that the martyr women created a culture of resistance that should spread to all areas of life.

Munzur invited all women to the festival that will be held for the 17th time in the city of Gelsenkirchen with the slogan "Jin Jiyan Azadî Ji Kurdistanê bi Cîhane ve" 0m 17 June. The Kurdish Women's Union (YJK-E) dedicated the festival to Evîn Goyî, who was murdered in Paris on 23 December 2022.


Munzur said that festivals of women's culture are organized in many countries of Europe, and added: "The festivals are organized in the name of the leading women of the women's movement and the martyrs. Zilan is a manifesto for us. It is a symbol of freedom for women. Women martyrs created a culture of resistance. Inspired by this culture of resistance, we organize festivals every year. Rather than evaluating this culture as a practice, we consider it as a philosophy of life, unity, and the basis of life of a communal society."

"Jin, Jiyan, Azadi"

Munzur said: "We invited especially the women who have been involved in the struggle for a long time and who have been carrying out an artistic struggle to the festival. After the murder of Jîna Aminî in Rojhilat, there was a women's uprising that spread to the world. It is an ongoing women's struggle. This revolution is the 'Jin Jiyan Azadi' revolution."

Munzur underlined that all programs are based on telling the culture created by the martyred pioneer women.

Several artists from Rojava, North Kurdistan and Rojhilat will perform at the festival. In addition to the Govend teams, artists and musical groups such as Jin Ma, Mizgîn Tahîr, Kevana Zêrîn, Eylem Aktaş, Beser Şahin and Firmesk will take the stage.
