YPJ General Command released a statement marking the 5th year of their foundation and the birthday of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
YPJ celebrated both occasions for the peoples of Northern Syria, Middle East and all the world, and particularly for the women resisting on the path of reality.
Remembering all the comrades that fell as martyrs in the popular revolution, YPJ reiterated their promise to enhance the struggle, and their loyalty to their martyrs.
The statement underlined that; “Making the voice of Kurdish, Syrian and all Middle Eastern women heard by the world, Women’s Defense Units YPJ has resolutely fought and defeated ISIS and other gang groups representing patriarchal mentality during the past 5 years. With its arm, will, courage and determination based on the defense of all women, YPJ has fulfilled the promise for the defense of humanity and taken its place on the frontlines. This battle of reality given by the YPJ has inspired all women in a short time.”
YPJ also celebrated the birthday of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, describing his birth as a historical turning point for Kurdistan and resurrection for the Kurdish people and women.
“With the philosophy of free life, Leader Apo (Öcalan) has created a new reality in Kurdistan, democratic nation, which became the only way to solution for the problems experienced by the peoples of Kurdistan and the entire region.”
The statement underlined that the reality revealed at YPJ’s 5th founding year and the struggle waged on the basis of women’s freedom has not remained limited with Rojava, becoming an unprecedented example for all the world’s women and peoples.
“Based on this reality of the YPJ, women from various identities have established an army. Thousands of female comrades of ours became the representative and reality of the women’s struggle. The 5th founding year of the YPJ has entered a new phase with the Resistance of the Age. This struggle will continue with great determination under the lead of women.”
YPJ remarked that their struggle continues with great resolve based on the freedom of Northern Syria and Rojava, continuing; “This struggle led by YPJ continues today in the form of peoples’ revolution. The efforts of Leader Apo have enabled the Kurds and Kurdistan to attain a free identity today. Our freedom struggle that is based on Leader Apo’s philosophy continues growing every day.”
