Women send hundreds of signatures collected in Swiss cities to the CPT

Hundreds of signatures collected in the Swiss cities of Geneva, Lausanne and Sion were sent to the CPT demanding it to act for the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The letters to the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) campaign launched by the European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E) to put pressure on it to act for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan were sent from various cities in Switzerland.

There has been no news from Öcalan for approximately 40 months.

Hundreds of signatures collected by members of the Swiss Kurdish Women's Union (YJK-S) in the Swiss cities of Geneva, Lausanne and Sion were sent to the CPT.

GENEVA

Hundreds of signatures collected by the Sema Yüce Women's Initiative were sent from the Mont-Blanc post office to the CPT.

Tuba Yılmaz said that the absolute isolation system imposed on Abdullah Öcalan is unacceptable and called on the CPT to fulfill its responsibility.

LAUSANNE

Members of the Lajîn Women's Council came together in front of the Riponne Post Office and sent dozens of letters.

Ruken Azık said: "We have not heard from Leader Öcalan for more than 3 years. The CPT is obliged to fulfill its responsibility by listening to the demands of the Kurdish people."

SION

Members of the Women's Initiative of the Canton of Valais also gathered in front of the central post office in Sion. Nurdan Ateş said: "A letter campaign to the CPT was launched within the scope of the 'Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a political solution to the Kurdish question' initiative all over the world, and in Europe in particular. We call on the CPT to fulfill its responsibilities."

YJK-S members will continue to send letters to the CPT in Zurich today, Aarau on 21 June, and Basel on 22 June.
