Free Women's Organization of Kurdistan (RJAK) organised a celebration in the skirts of the Qandil Mountain to mark March 8, International Women’s Day.
Hundreds of women from Sulaymaniyah, Hewler, Duhok, Germiyan and many other regions in South Kurdistan joined the event where messages of various organisations were read, concerts and various activities performed.
The stage was decorated with images of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and martyrs of the freedom struggle.
The KJK (Kurdistan Women’s Communities) message read out here denounced the genocidal attacks of the Turkish state and said; “Let the enemies of the Kurds know that the struggle for women will continue under the leadership of women.”
The message by RJAK pointed out that the struggle led by Kurdish women has been a source of inspiration all around the world.
Singer Deniz Deman, music bands Destîna Qendîl and Solîn and some other local groups performed at the celebration event.
