Woman political prisoner on hunger strike beaten

Zozan Kutum has been on hunger strike since 20 December and is now weighing 40 kilos.

Every day a new torture and abuse is reported against those carrying out actions to demand the end of the isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Those suffering most abuses are the over 300 political prisoners on hunger strike, who have to face the brutality and violence of the prison guards.

The last case exposed is that of political prisoner and hunger striker Zozan Kutum, who was taken from Bakırköy Women's Closed Prison to Silivri Prison campus between 18 and 22 February and suffered beating.

Kutum, the daughter of a political refugee family living in Sweden, was beaten by male guards with kick and punches because she did not accept be strip searched at the entrance of Silivri Prison.

What happened to Kutum was exposed by her friends who were also beaten when trying to react to this violence.

Zozan Kutum has been on hunger strike since 20 December and is now weighing 40 kilos.

Kutum and her friends filed a criminal complaint about the administration of Silivri Prison and the guards who battered her.
