KJAR member Warisha Moradi, who was sentenced to death by the Iranian state, is prevented from access to hospital.
Kurdish activist Warisha Moradi, a member of the Eastern Kurdistan Free Women's Community (KJAR) imprisoned in Iran, is reported to be experiencing serious health problems due to torture. According to reports, she is not referred to hospital on the grounds that ‘she is not allowed to leave the prison’.
It was reported that Warisha Moradi, who was subjected to pressure in prison, could not benefit from any rights, especially the right to health, after a death sentence was handed to her.
Although the prison administration stated that Moradi would be transferred to a hospital outside the prison at her own expense, this decision was not fulfilled after the death sentence was passed.
Warisha Moradi has been in Iranian custody since August last year and is currently being held in the women's section of Tehran's notorious Evin Prison. Last week, she was sentenced to death by a court for ‘armed rebellion against the state’. The reason given for the sentence is the 38-year-old Kurdish woman's membership of KJAR, the umbrella organisation of the Kurdish women's movement in East Kurdistan and Iran. Moradi's lawyers have appealed against the death sentence.
