University student jailed over Boğaziçi protests in solitary confinement for 27 days

Şilan Delipalta, was arrested for protesting the trustee rector appointed to Boğaziçi University, has been held in solitary confinement for 27 days.

Şilan Delipalta, who was arrested for protesting the Turkish government's appointment of trustee rector Melih Bulu to Boğaziçi University, has been in isolation for 27 days.

After meeting with Delipalta in Bakırköy Prison, Turkish Human Rights Association (IHD) co-chair Eren Keskin said, “she has been kept in isolation for 27 days and now wants to go to a regular ward. She was smiling, hopeful, strong and said hello to everyone."

The Contemporary Lawyers Association’s Intern and Student Commission shared a post about Şilan Delipalta on Twitter.

"Şilan Delipalta, who was arrested for protesting the trustee rector appointed to Boğaziçi University, has been held in solitary confinement for 27 days without even being allowed to take fresh air. Isolation is a crime against humanity! Let Şilan Delipalta be released!", the commission tweeted.
