TJK-E calls for protests amid concerns over Öcalan's condition

TJK-E voiced concerns over the ongoing denial of communication with Abdullah Öcalan, and called upon the Kurdish people to raise their voice against this ambiguous situation.

The Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe (TJK-E) released a statement highlighting that concerns are growing about the situation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan in the wake of the coup attempt of July 15 in Turkey.

Describing the current state of affairs in Turkey as a fight for power, TJK-E pointed out that it was mainly opponent circles, women and different faith groups being in the first place, that are massacred and eliminated most in such chaos atmospheres.

The statement underlined that; "The ongoing denial of communication with Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is the assurance of freedom and democracy in Turkey and the Middle East, and the rejection of the demands of his lawyers and family for a meeting increase these concerns over Öcalan's condition. At the same time, the escalated discussion of death penalty and publication of shady reports increase our concerns.”

TJK-E called upon all organised Kurdish women to display their reaction and raise their voice against this shady case, and called for more powerful protests by all the assemblies, communes and initiatives affiliated to the TJK-E, as well as all the Kurdish people and youths.
