The Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe (TJK-E) released a written statement denouncing last night’s Turkish airstrikes on Shengal, Maxmur and Derik. “Let's stop these attacks aiming for a Kurdish genocide in the 21st century through international solidarity,” said the statement which further includes the following:
“On the night of February 1st, the fascist Turkish state simultaneously bombed Maxmur, Shengal and the Teqil Beqil village in Rojava by fighter jets. Dozens of civilian settlements in the Derik region, the Shengal mountains and the Maxmur Refugee Camp were struck by Turkish aircraft.
The Turkish bombing of civilian settlements came shortly after the defeat of barbarian ISIS in Hesekê. The fascist Turkish state wants to cover up its downfall through these attacks. These attacks against the gains of the Kurdish people target the free Kurds and Kurdistan. The heavy airstrikes have once again demonstrated the brutality of the Turkish state.
Encouraged by the silence of the international community, the Turkish state is aiming for a Kurdish genocide in the 21st century through these attacks. We urge all international institutions, especially the UN and the EU, to assume their responsibilities and take a stand against these barbarian attacks. International institutions should break their silence and take concrete steps against the fascist Turkish state. It should not be forgotten that apart from the Turkish state, the KDP, which offered all kinds of support to these attacks, and the international institutions that have remained silent are also responsible for the losses.
On this basis, we call on our people, especially women, our friends and the public to stand up against fascism and to expand the common struggle.
Let's stop the war in Kurdistan through international solidarity!
Today is the day to bring fascism to account!”
