Free Women’s Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad, TJA) celebrated Kurdish New Year Newroz by issuing a written statement.

"We celebrate Newroz, - the statement said - which is the feast of resistance and the new year of the peoples who struggle against oppression for independence and freedom."

The statement added: “Today, this struggle is for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. The hunger strike resistance against isolation led by Leyla Güven spread all over the world. This resistance is symbolized in Zülküf Gezen.”

DTK co-chair Leyla Güven's action is leading the women and peoples of the whole world, the statement said, stressing that the attacks of AKP-MHP fascism will be rejected.

“Newroz will give an answer to fascism”

The statement continued: “The message we will give on Newroz will be one of resistance. It will be the response of all peoples, especially the women, against this fascist alliance and its attacks. This answer will be given on 31 March at the polls as it was given on 8 March by women.”

The statement ended: “We, the women of TJA and comrades of Leyla Güven, are going to join the Newroz celebrations with the slogan “We will definitely win”.

We will put an end to the attacks of fascism, which began with the isolation imposed on Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, the hope of freedom for all peoples. We will defeat isolation.”
