Thousands of women march for decent pay all over Switzerland

All over Switzerland, tens of thousands of women demonstrated for more respect, decent pay and retirement.

Tens of thousands of women across Switzerland demonstrated for greater equality. The slogan of the march drew attention to the fact that women earned 18 percent less than men on average.

BERN

On Wednesday evening, thousands of women gathered in Bern for the final rally of this year's women's strike. The women demonstrated for "time, respect, decent pay and retirement".

ZURICH

The city of Zurich turned into a purple wave. Tens of thousands of women demanded a minimum wage, the end of patriarchy, the right to abortion for all, parental leave, the abolition of the burqa for women in Afghanistan. The Zurich Revolutionary Strike Collective hung a model of Erdogan in front of the entrance to the UBS (Swiss Banks Association).

The Revolutionary Strike Collective stated: "We stand by the women who are fighting against patriarchal, fundamentalist and fascist oppression in Turkey, Kurdistan and everywhere!" Activists also condemned UBS bank, saying Credit Suisse is a valuable business partner of Turkey.
