A seminar in Hewler discussed the efforts to increase the representation of women in decision making processes and service areas.
The Mesele Organization held a seminar on increasing women’s opportunities to take part in decision making processes and service areas. The seminar held in the Erbil Best Hotel pointed to the issues women face in everyday life.
Discussions were held on how to achieve more active roles for women in decision making mechanisms and politics with stronger representation.
Mesele Organization administrator Ehmed Kawani spoke to RojNews about the seminar and said, “We discussed issues women face in everyday life. We will be submitting the results of the seminar as a report to the Kurdistan Regional Government officials.”
The efforts to include women in decision making processes resulted in 3 female ministers in the new KRG cabinet. This number is much lower than what women demand, however, as they continue to push for at least 30% representation.
