MKP prisoner Aysel Koç, who has been imprisoned since 2012, died in Sincan women's prison. According to authorities, she committed suicide. Her lawyer wants to see the autopsy report.

Political prisoner Aysel Koç from the Maoist Communist Party (MKP) has died in the women's prison of Sincan, Ankara. The activist had been sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment in 2012 in the trial against the Maoist Communist Party. The prison authorities informed the family and relatives that she had "committed suicide". Koç's lawyer stated that he demanded to see the autopsy report. Representatives of the human rights association IHD in Ankara have gone to the forensic department to obtain information about the death of the prisoner.

Aysel Koç was arrested on 15 November 2012 in Dersim’s Ovacık district during a Turkish attack on the MKP/HKO guerrillas. The attack was a war crime. The Turkish army had thrown poison gas into a cave where a meeting of MKP/HKO (Maoist Communist Party/ People’s Liberation Army) was held and massacred a large part of those present, 24 people. Koç was captured alive and has been in prison ever since.

In August 2016, lawyer and IHD chair Eren Keskin made it public that Aysel Koç was a victim of sexual violence. At that time, Koç, who was imprisoned in the Gebze women's prison in Kocaeli province, was in hospital for treatment when she was subject to sexual violence by a doctor. The IHD filed a complaint, and the responsible public prosecutor's office ordered the suspension of criminal prosecution.
