KJK commends international campaign demanding freedom for Öcalan

The KJK published a written statement to commend the initiative launched on 10 October to demand freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and the political solution to the Kurdish question.

The KJK (Kurdish Women’s Community) Coordination said in a written statement: “Leader Apo's [Abdullah Öcalan] resistance, which is the struggle and resistance of all of us, will definitely win. With the power of our common struggle, Leader Apo will regain his physical freedom!”

The KJK added: "Leader Abdullah Öcalan has been held captive in a solitary cell in Imralı for 25 years. We commend all friends who participated in the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, Political Solution to the Kurdish Question" campaign on 10 October. As the Kurdish Women's Movement, we salute women for leading the actions that took place simultaneously in many parts of the world, including Bangladesh, Tokyo, India, Kenya, South Africa, Latin America and Europe, and for their participation in statements/actions carried out in many places. We would like to emphasize that the global freedom actions against the global conspiracy provide great strength and support for the freedom of Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the political solution to the Kurdish question. We believe that these actions were decisive in the success of the campaign.”

Global actions showed the impact of the leader

The statement continued: “The actions taken globally have demonstrated the global impact of Leader Abdullah Öcalan's ideas, as well as the importance of international solidarity for oppressed peoples, women and anti-system forces. It has set an example for the organized oppressed peoples and women.”

Genocide attacks will not make Kurds step back

The statement underlined that “the heavy isolation and attacks carried out by the Turkish state against Leader Abdullah Öcalan have turned into a genocidal attack against all Kurds. Civilian areas are being bombed in Rojava, South Kurdistan, Maxmur and Shengal, and women, children, elderly and defense forces are being murdered. Women and children were injured in consecutive bombings against civilian homes and places of worship in Maxmur Camp, which is under UN protection. These genocidal attacks will not make the Kurds step back.”

Leader Öcalan will be free

The statement added: “At a time when our world is shaken by the dirty, barbaric wars of governments, your voices, demands and messages of solidarity, the enlightened, humanitarian, internationalist and democratic essence of humanity, have created the hope and excitement of a free world. With the power of our common struggle, Leader Apo will regain his physical freedom!”
