KJA calls for all-out resistance against attacks

KJA condemned the arrest of Amed Co-Mayors Gültan Kışanak and Fırat Anlı, and called upon women to resist everywhere.

Free Women’s Congress (Kongreya Jinên Azad - KJA) issued a written statement on the arrest of Amed Co-Mayors Gültan Kışanak and Fırat Anlı.

In its statement, KJA said "Amed is the capital of the ‘you can march on Kurdistan but never gain victory’ spirit, and all political calculations that disregard this fact are bound to be defeated. Those that do not acknowledge the Kurdish reality are bound to be defeated."

KJA described the attacks on the Kurdish Freedom Movement as attacks on women’s struggle for freedom, and said "With their thousands of martyrs and resistance in dungeons despite torture, Kurdish women have won their freedom. The social and cultural revolutions in relations between men and women, the Co-Presidency system, equal representation and women’s organizations are results of women’s resistance. The policies against women, who have won their freedoms after paying heavy prices, are bound to lose!

We women have the strength to repeat the struggle we have put up so far a thousand times."

'WOMEN’S STRUGGLE TARGETED'

Lastly, KJA called upon women to understand that the attacks against the Kurdish Freedom Movement are attempts to enslave and colonize women, and to resist democratically until Amed Co-Mayors Gültan Kışanak and Fırat Anlı are released from custody.
