Internationalist young women came together in Bologna, Italy and planted trees to celebrate the 73rd birthday of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The young women read out a statement during the event, saying the following:
“Today, we celebrate Öcalan's birthday. Today marks not only the birthday of Öcalan, but also the beginning of a new chapter in Kurdish history. Today, we pay tribute to Öcalan once again by planting a rose tree in Bologna. We also commemorate all the martyrs of the Kurdistan revolution. We are little roses that keep growing over the years, each making a little revolution, yet still belonging together. We must liberate the world in order to liberate Kurdistan, and vice versa. We wish you all a successful new year. We will continue to fight for the physical freedom of the Kurdish leader.”
