HDP Co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ sends a message to women

Figen Yüksekdağ, Co-chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), which is the only party implementing the co-chair system in Turkey with an equal representation of women, has sent a message to women after her arrest.

HDP Co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ was formally arrested in Amed after she was detained during a raid on her house in Ankara last night.

“I refuse to be a walk-on extra in the judiciary show launched because Erdoğan with all his dubious political past ordered so. I will not answer any questions you ask, and I have no faith that any act of judgment will be just. I have no demands and no expectations from you. Only my people who elected me can judge me for my political activities”, she said in her statement at court earlier today.
