Günay: Everyone should play their part against war and isolation

HDP spokesperson Ebru Günay stated that the AKP only produces racism and sexism, and called on everyone to fight against war and isolation. "Independent delegations should go to Imralı," she said.

HDP Party Spokesperson and Mardin Deputy Ebru Günay evaluated the recent political developments on the agenda.

'AKP-MHP only produce racism and gender hate'

Günay said: "Turkey has been playing here and there between Russia and the US. This balance policy played by Turkey is leading to a serious war. The war-based direction of the AKP-MHP alliance inside and outside now produces policies that inevitably lead to fascism, nationalism, racism, machoism, hate speech, and sexism. There is a peace policy and we consider this peace policy as a dynamic for women's emancipation, antifascism, freedom of expression and positive discrimination.

We invite all democrats to defend peace and freedom, to join forces in an alliance of democracy. We invite them to choose peace over war, life over death, freedom over isolation and take an active role in this regard. The policy of isolation is one of the policies that cause the war to deepen. Mr. Öcalan is one of the actors who have a solution for the Kurdish question and the deepening war in Syria."

Günay added: "As you know, Mr. Öcalan and the other prisoners in Imrali were able to meet with their families. As reflected in the press, Mr. Öcalan has once again manifested his will for the solution of the Kurdish problem. But we also know from our past experiences and past situation that the AKP government has always left this disposition unanswered. Insistence on war and isolation policies left these calls unanswered.

Mr. Öcalan should be freed and allowed to play his role for a solution. The family meeting was undoubtedly important but nevertheless, lawyers should be allowed to meet their client. And more importantly, it is essential for us that independent and impartial delegations are allowed to Imrali."

8 March

Günay said the HDP Women Council will be on the squares on 8 March, International Women's Day and invited all women to celebrate 8 March with enthusiasm.
