An exhibition of women's paintings opened in Azadî Park in Sulaymaniyah on Saturday evening. The pictures show Kurdish women who have died in battle at various times, including PKK fighters from southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).
The exhibition was organised by the Movement of Combatant Young Women (Teko-Jin). According to the movement, the exhibition aims to present women fighters. A statement by the movement pointed out that Kurdish women are currently mainly present in the guerrilla struggle against the occupation of southern Kurdistan. The pictures also depict women who have died as a result of Turkish chemical weapons.
