Başaran elected spokesperson for HDP Women's Council

The Women's Council of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP met for the first time in Ankara after the fourth congress of the party last weekend. The meeting was attended by party leader Pervin Buldan, the previous Women's Council spokeswoman Dilan Dirayet Taşdemir, all female members of parliament as well as the female members of the party council and the Council of Young Women.
Lawyer Ayşe Acar Başaran was elected as the new spokeswoman of the Women's Council. She has been a member of parliament from the province of Batman since 2015 and te spokesperson for the Law and Human Rights Commission of the HDP parliamentary group. Before her parliamentary activity she was a lawyer in Batman. Her father was murdered by the counter-guerrilla in 1993.
