Activists in Stockholm protest surge in violence against women
The coronavirus pandemic has increased male violence against women. Activists protested this surge in violence with a demonstration in Stockholm.
A group of Kurds gathered in Drottningsgatan, the busiest street in Stockholm, to protest violence against women.
Speaking on behalf of the Amara Women's Council, Ayşe Göktepe said that the violence against women already heavily present in the society has increased due to the pandemic.
Pointing out that the sexist ideology of the capitalist system has become more dangerous for women and children during the pandemic process we are going through, Göktepe called on the Swedish society not to remain silent.
Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK) flags were carried by women activists who often chanted the slogan "Jin, jiyan, azadi" and demanded to stop violence against women.
