4 detained in police attack on mothers celebrating Öcalan’s birthday in Istanbul

Peace Mothers and a group of mothers participating in the Justice Vigil for sick prisoners were attacked by the police for celebrating the birthday of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Peace Mothers and a group of mothers participating in the Justice Vigil for sick prisoners gathered in Istanbul.

The mothers who gathered under the leadership of the Association of Assistance and Solidarity with the Lost Relatives of Anatolia (ANYAKAY-DER) marched in the district of Küçükçekmece, chanting “Biji Serok Apo” (Long Live Leader Öcalan) to celebrate the 74th birthday of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan.

After leaving flowers in the sea, the mothers were attacked by the police and four of them were taken into custody.

Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reporter Zana Kaya and JINNEWS reporters Rozerin Gültekin and Elfazi Toral were also harassed and insulted by the police while covering the crackdown.
