Thousands of people joined Newroz celebrations

Hundreds of thousands who gathered for Newroz celebrations in Dersim, Urfa, Antep, Þýrnak, Adýyaman, Bingöl and Elazýð voiced their demand for freedom for Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan today and condemned yesterday’s police attack against Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair Ahmet Türk.

Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) co-chair Gültan Kýþanak said in her speech in Dersim, “We will see Mr. Öcalan among us”.

DTK co-chair Aysel Tuðluk said in Þýrnak, “We chose to live together but if they do not want it, if they will attack us with bombs and tanks we are not obliged to live together.”

Diyarbakýr MP Leyla Zana said in Antep, “Urfa is a city of many heroes and one of them is Öcalan.”
