Open letter counters Kurdish National Council's head statements
Some Kurdish communities centres, associations (Kurdish Federation UK
Halkevi Kurdish Community Centre, Kurdish Community Centre, Roj Women Association in UK, Hevallo), the Kurdish National Congress and the PYD Foreign Affairs Office have sent an open letter to the editorial board of Rudaw, following the interview with Abdulhakim Bashar by Hevidar Ahmed.
In the letter the associations write that "While the peacefully liberated and democratically governed Western Kurdistan region is being being established and controlled by Kurds there are some anti democratic individuals who are acting against the Kurdish national interest at this historical moment for Western Kurdistan".
And then the letter points out that "Firstly,Ms Hevdar Ahmed is misleading the public by stating that Mr Abdulhakim Bashar is 'Head of the Kurdish National Council'in fact, he is not! The Chairman of KNC is Mr Ismail Hame who publicly stated that the Syrian Kurdish political parties are able to defend themselves against any hostile Turkish military intervention and KNC publicly contradicted a previous statement by Mr Abdulhakim Bashar regarding control of Rojava Kurdistan. KNC disassociated themselves from his statement stating it was his own personal view".
The authors of the letter also stated they "seriously question Ms Hevidar Ahmed's motivation and professional ethics in misleading the public with evidently misleading information and making slanderous accusations about alleged criminal activities without any evidence or proof that could have serious legal implications".
The letter also adds that "Unfortunately, its a shame that such an alleged Kurdish leader is making such statements, working against the Hewler agreement which he himself originally signed".
Since 19th July, Rojava Kurdistan's cities and towns have been peacefully liberated and administrated by Rojava Kurds which is an historical movement towards democracy, stability and peace in the region. However, Mr Bashar is publicly denying this reality and disrespectfully making slanderous accusations against his own Kurdish movement as this region has been liberated not only by PYD but was liberated by joint Kurdish forces. Indeed, this region has been liberated by Syrian Kurdish people and there is no presence of any other Kurdish armed parties such as PKK, KDP, PUK etc.
"By inviting and working with forces who are working against Kurdish national interests in Rojava Kurdistan - says the open letter - we consider this as a betrayal of the historical democratic establishment of Western Kurdistan".
Further more it is, the letter says "treacherous and counter revolutionary to call on foreign forces to fight against Kurdish controlled forces in Rojava and disrespect the Kurdish people's political will".
In conclusion, the authors of the letter "demand the removal of this slanderous and misleading 'article' from Rudaw's website and the cessation of this type of anti revolutionary propaganda and call for an independent investigation by Rudaw's editorial team into this journalist's motivations for this type of article that works against the Kurdish people's revolution in Rojava Kurdistan. The results of any internal Rudaw investigation should be published widely in the Kurdish media".
In the interview Abdulhakim Bashar said among other things that "The government offices have not been taken [in Kurdish cities]. The government can use them any time it wants. This partys actions have harmed the reputation of Kurds in Western Kurdistan. They are viewed as the regimes partner. Having the regime surrender its offices to the Kurds without confrontation has harmed Kurdish interests in Syria and led to hostility between the Kurds and the Syrian revolutionaries".
