YPJ fighters said that they will counter the attacks by the Turkish state and its proxies, and that the resistance of the people who determinedly continue their vigil at the Tishrin Dam gives them strength.
Women's Protection Units (YPJ) fighters have been carrying out a historic resistance determined to win in the Tishrin Dam. They have been repelling Turkish attacks since 8 December 2024.
The fighters are fighting with determination in the tunnels of resistance.
We are determined to win
YPJ fighter Sara Tolhildan drew attention to the struggle against the air and ground attacks carried out by the Turkish state and the Syrian National Army (SNA) and targeting Northern and Eastern Syria, and said: "We are here to protect the Tishrin Dam. We will not allow a Turkish occupation, and we are showing an unparalleled resistance against the attacks. No matter how much the enemy tries to advance, they cannot take even a single step forward against the determination of the SDF (Democratic Syrian Forces) and YPJ fighters. Of course, we will not allow this occupation, because we are determined to win."
Sara Tolhildan also greeted the support given by the people to the resistance and said: "We have suffered injuries and martyrs as a result of the attacks on the people. However, our people continue their vigil at the Tishrin Dam with determination. Our people stand by us with a spirit of sacrifice. Their support gives us strength; with this strength, we will fulfill our duties and responsibilities to the end."
History is being made in the tunnels of resistance
Arab fighter Viyan Tolhildan also emphasized the unity of the fighters and the people, saying that "many memories were created in the tunnels of resistance. We will not give up this struggle under any circumstances until the Turkish occupation ends. The enemy cannot advance in the face of our resistance and is retreating. This resistance carried out today in the Tishrin Dam is being realized thanks to the stance and hope of our people."
Viyan Tolhildan said that the people’s determination and support in the resistance is the source of motivation for the fighters, and added: "Based on the stance of our people, we will continue our resistance and repel all kinds of occupation attacks. We will achieve success in this struggle together with our people."
