Water problem is being solved in the villages of Kobanê

Kobanê Canton Water Directorate, which set out to realize 23 projects in 2023, started the construction of a tank to supply water to 15 villages in the west of Kobanê as a continuation of this project.

Kobanê Canton Water Directorate focused on projects in 2023, aiming for important works such as protecting the region's water resources and improving water supply systems affected by the Turkish state cutting off the Euphrates water and the well water being salty.

Kobanê Canton Water Directorate, which planned 23 projects for 2023, has been able to implement only 18 projects so far. Unfortunately, the remaining projects had to be postponed due to the attacks by the Turkish state against the region. Among the planned projects is the construction of 2 large water tanks that can distribute water to 15 villages in the west of Kobanê.

The project, which was initiated in the village of Cib El Ferec and will distribute water to 15 villages mostly on the border of North Kurdistan, aims to be completed in the first few months of 2024.

Stating that many stations in the region have become unusable due to the Turkish state cutting off the Euphrates water and targeting the water stations, Mesûd Bozî, co-chair of the Euphrates Region Water Directorate, said that this situation causes the people of the region to have difficulties in meeting their water needs.

Bozî said that Kobanê Canton Water Directorate has implemented 80 percent of the project so far, and added that they will start a new water project that will provide water supply to 54 villages in Qinayê district in the coming days.
