Turkish-backed gangs kidnap civilians for ransom in Afrin

Gangs affiliated to the Turkish state kidnap civilians in occupied Afrin to get ransom from families.

The gangs controlled by the invading Turkish state continue to commit crimes against humanity in Afrin.

According to information received from a local source in Rajo district, the gangs who introduced themselves as "military police" kidnapped 3 civilians in Bedîna village on 30 November, on the instructions of Turkish intelligence.

The family of Xelil Mihemed Sheba (60), one of the kidnapped civilians, had to pay 338 thousand Syrian liras to the gangs in return for his release. The fate of the other two kidnapped civilians, Rifet Hisên Mihemed (43) and Omer Beyrem Elo (65), is still unclear.

Gangs affiliated to the Turkish state received a ransom of 1,500 Turkish lira per person from families for the release of civilians, Ahmed Arif İbiş and Hesen Arif Osa, whom they had previously kidnapped.
