Syrian Democratic Council: Unity is a must against the Turkish state

The Syrian Democratic Council called for national unity to protect the gains of the Kurdish people.

The Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) held a meeting in the city of Derik in the Cizre Canton to discuss the future of Syria. Patriots, political party representatives, opinion leaders and intellectuals attended the meeting held in the Şînav Hall.

MSD Relations Office co-chair Hesen Mihemed Elî drew attention to the current situation in Syria and the policies of the Turkish state targeting the Kurdish people. Elî said: "The Turkish state targets the existence of the Kurdish people in every possible way. Kobanê is our symbol of resistance as well as of our existence. We should all focus on this. We have to ensure national unity in line with the interests of our people."

The participants underlined that there is an urgent need for Kurdish unity to thwart the genocidal policies imposed on the Kurdish people. One of the results of the meeting was the proposal for a Kurdish congress to be held to protect the gains of the people of Northern and Eastern Syria.

Participants hailed the resistance of the SDF, and drew attention to the importance of Kurdish unity and national solidarity.
