Amineh Kakabaveh, a member of the Swedish Left Party, has tabled a motion in the Swedish Parliament against the dismissal of HDP mayors in Northern Kurdistan.
The deposition of HDP mayors in 28 cities in Northern Kurdistan and the appointment of regime officials by the AKP regime is now also a topic in the Swedish parliament. Amineh Kakabaveh, a member of the Swedish Left Party, has tabled a motion in the Swedish parliament, asking the Foreign Minister Ann Linde what they considered doing against Erdoğan’s attacks on HDP and the Kurdish people. She called for Sweden to work at EU level to increase pressure on Turkey to release political prisoners and reinstate the deposed co-mayors.
“Turkey is not a constitutional state”
Kakabaveh told ANF that Turkey was not a constitutional state. In order to eliminate the opposition, the law and constitution are trampled underfoot, she said and cited the following as an example of disregard for the law:
"Both courts in Turkey and the European Court of Human Rights have demanded the release of Demirtaş. Erdoğan simply does not recognize these decisions. This should not be met with silence. The illegal acts against Demirtaş and the seizure of HDP municipalities must be denounced everywhere in Europe.”
“Solidarity with HDP municipalities necessary”
Kakabaveh said that Erdoğan wanted to completely destroy the achievements of the Kurds and the HDP, whether in parliament or in city councils, and continued: "This is absolutely unacceptable. The Kurds, revolutionaries, women and all human rights defenders must take action. They must show solidarity with the HDP and its municipalities."
“The silence and fear must end”
Kakabaveh concluded by saying, "Some have left the country. The rest of the people dare not speak out. Fear and silence must stop. If the silence continues, the oppression, attacks and arrests by the Erdoğan regime will continue."
