The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) thwarted two separate ISIS attacks targeting our military checkpoints in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor and the Heseke countryside.

According to the SDF Press Center, the first attack was thwarted in the Markada district, located in southeastern Heseke countryside, when one of the SDF checkpoints stopped a suspicious civilian vehicle.

“Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to contain weapons and ammunition. Shortly after the discovery, two ISIS terrorists riding a motorcycle launched an attack on the checkpoint using machine guns. Our forces responded immediately, forcing the attackers to flee. The incident resulted in material damage only, with no casualties among our forces.”

The second terrorist attack was thwarted in the town of Sweidan in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside. While one of the SDF patrols was conducting a routine security mission, an ISIS cell attacked them. SDF forces responded effectively to the attack. While the exact losses inflicted on the terrorists remain unknown, the attack caused only minor material damage and no casualties among SDF forces.

The SDF pointed out that: “This recent escalation in attacks by ISIS cells against our forces, security personnel, civilians, and service institutions highlights the ongoing threat posed by terrorism in the region. It underscores the necessity for heightened vigilance and preparedness by both our forces and local communities.”

The statement concluded: “Our SDF remains fully committed to ensuring the security and stability of the region. We call for continued cooperation between our forces and the local population to intensify efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and cut off their material and moral support. Our forces will continue to work tirelessly to protect civilians and will spare no effort in delivering decisive blows to any group seeking to destabilize the region.”
