SDF's anti-ISIS operation in Deir ez-Zor continues on day 3

On Sunday the SDF launched a large-scale military and security operation in rural areas of the north and northeast of Deir ez-Zor. The operation began with ground and air support from the International Coalition.

For the third day in a row, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continue their security and military operation in the area of al-Ajeej Valley, northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The first three days witnessed sweeping large areas of al-Ajeej Valley. With support from the International Coalition, SDF forces were able to find hideouts used by the terrorist organization to hide its members and weapons in addition to detecting the smuggling routes used by the organization for the movement of its members.

Last night, the Coalition forces fired a number of missiles targeting positions, hideouts and smuggling routes in al-Ajeej Valley in addition to conducting overflights by warplanes in the area in order to monitor and observe the movements of the organization’s sleeper cells.
Patrols affiliated to both SDF forces and international coalition forces have met with a number of residents of al-Ajeej Valley area.

SDF Press Centre spokesperson Ferhad Shami stated that ISIS cells failed to operate in the region because of the security operation.
