SDF: Our forces foiled ISIS bombing attempt, eliminated one terrorist

The SDF foiled an attempt by an ISIS terrorist cell to plant a landmine on the roadside leading to the city of Hajeen.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Press Office issued a statement about an attack on Tuesday evening that was successfully foiled. The statement said: "Our forces foiled an attempt by an ISIS terrorist cell to plant a landmine on the roadside leading to the city of Hajeen, Deir Ezzor’s eastern countryside. This terrorist act targeted the safe movement of civilians between cities."

The statement added that "while conducting routine patrols to secure the area and protect local residents, our units observed suspicious activity by a two-member terrorist cell. Our forces swiftly intervened, surrounding one of the suspects. When he opened fire, our units responded immediately, eliminating him. A landmine was found in his possession, which he was preparing to plant. The second terrorist managed to escape, taking refuge in civilian farmland. Our forces continue to pursue him.
In a separate attack in the town of al-Susah, also in Deir Ezzor’s eastern countryside, our forces engaged in a brief clash with another ISIS cell, which subsequently fled the area.

Our forces reaffirm that such terrorist tactics will only strengthen our resolve to hunt down ISIS cells and ensure the safety and security of our communities."
