SDF: ISIS leader captured in Deir ez-Zor

The SDF announced that they captured Hisên Newaf El Hisên, a leader of an ISIS gang, along with numerous weapons and military equipment in an operation carried out in Deir ez-Zor on 21 February.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Press Center announced that Hisên Newaf El Hisên, an ISIS leader, was captured during an operation carried out in Deir ez-Zor.

The statement said: "Our forces have recently increased security operations against ISIS sleeper cells. As a result of the operations, dozens of ISIS mercenaries were captured.

Anti-Terrorist Units (YAT) affiliated with our forces carried out a security operation in the village of Elbo Nîtêl in Deir ez-Zor on 21 February. The operation was in cooperation with the International Coalition Forces and led to the capture of an ISIS leader."

The statement added: "Our forces carried out an operation and captured a terrorist named Hisên Newaf El Hisên in the house where he was staying. Hisên Newaf El Hisên was carrying out terrorist actions targeting civilian and military institutions to destroy the security and stability of the region.

Our forces seized many documents and weapons in the house where the terrorist was captured."

As to what was seized, the statement confirmed that "4 phones, 1 Kalashnikov gun, 8 Kalashnikov magazines, 1 hand grenade, many Kalashnikov bullets, 1 camera, many documents were found."

The statement said: "Our forces will continue their operations until we defeat the terrorist organizations."
