SDF Commander-In-Chief receives Deputy Bishop of the Armenian Orthodox Archdiocese of Al Jazeera

The SDF Commander-In-Chief received the Deputy Bishop of the Armenian Orthodox Archdiocese of Al Jazeera, along with a delegation of Armenian community officials.

The SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) Commander-in-Chief, Mazloum Abdi, received, on Wednesday, His Eminence Deputy Bishop Levon Yeghiayan, Pastor of the Armenian Orthodox Archdiocese of Al Jazeera, along with a delegation of Armenian community officials.

During the meeting, Deputy Bishop Yeghiayan conveyed the congratulations and blessings of Archbishop Makar Ashkarian, the Armenian Orthodox Archbishop of Aleppo and its Environs, to the SDF Commander-in-Chief on the occasion of Nowruz and Eid al-Fitr. He commended the Syrian Democratic Forces for their efforts in maintaining security and stability in the region. He also emphasized the importance of dialogue and communication among the various religious, ethnic, and political communities to promote coexistence and ensure that all Syrians, regardless of their affiliations or beliefs, contribute to shaping and rebuilding Syria’s future.

For his part, SDF Commander-in-Chief Abdi welcomed the delegation and highlighted the historic role of the Armenian community in enriching the social and cultural fabric of northern and eastern Syria, as well as Syria as a whole. He underscored the significance of such visits in fostering strong relationships and promoting effective and constructive communication among Syria’s diverse communities. Additionally, he stressed the importance of consolidating the principles of mutual respect and cooperation.

The SDF Commander-in-Chief further emphasized the necessity of intensifying efforts to maintain stability in their region and across Syria while safeguarding the achievements made since the July 19, 2012 revolution, particularly the security and stability strengthened following the defeat of ISIS.

The meeting also addressed ways to enhance cooperation among various religious and community institutions while avoiding divisions, as part of broader efforts to reinforce stability and social cohesion. The discussions underscored the collective responsibility of all Syrians to overcome divisions and work toward unity.

The visit concluded with a reaffirmation of the importance of continued dialogue among Syria’s diverse communities and the need to expand initiatives that foster national unity and mutual understanding, contributing to a more stable future for all.

Additionally, on the same day, SDF Commander-in-Chief Abdi received a delegation of sheikhs and dignitaries from Raqqa and its countryside. The delegation praised the agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Damascus government, while discussions also covered service and security issues affecting the people of Raqqa and its surrounding areas.
