International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

A statement was read at a press conference in front of the Sara organization's building in Qamishlo, that saw the participation of Kongra Star, Northern and Eastern Syria Women's Council, Euphrates Region Women's Council, civil society organization representatives and Democratic Islamic Congress Women's Council representatives.

Nesriya Mehmud, one of the executives of the Sara Organization, read the statement which underlined that women fought for their freedom and rights in every field and although special laws were passed for women, they were not sufficient because violence against women continued, women were murdered and deprived of their rights.

The statement said that in order to build a democratic society without violence, the struggle should be strengthened, women's cases should be followed and laws should be implemented. A number of actions and events will be held in Aleppo, Shehba, Sirîn, Êyn Îsa, Hesekê, Waşûkanî, Serêkanîyê and Newroz camps on 25 November.

Brochures will be distributed, posters will be hung on billboards, opinions will be taken for November 25, panels will be organized under the coordination of the Women's Religious Council, seminars will be given in districts and schools, stories of successful women will be shared, meetings will be held in cooperation with Hîlala Zêrîn, screenings will be organized, Jinwar village will be visited, evening walks will be held and a theater play will be performed.
