Sara Qawas: The foundation laid by the PKK and the struggle it wages are decisive

PYD Assembly Member Sara Qawas said that the foundation laid by the PKK and the struggle it waged in Rojava were decisive and added: "This revolution is the continuation of Leader Öcalan’s philosophy and the Apoist spirit."

Speaking to ANF on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the founding of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party), PYD (Democratic Union Party) Assembly Member Sara Qawas said that the PKK created the hope and chance for the Kurdish people to live on their own land, with their own identity and will. Noting that the Kurdish people started to claim their own history, culture and social values, Sara Qawas said that women, who were oppressed and had all their rights usurped, also claimed their will and existence.

Remarking that the people of Rojava grew up with the ideas of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and made a revolution with this spirit, Sara Qawas said: "This revolution is the continuation of Leader Apo's (Abdullah Öcalan) philosophy and the Apoist spirit. This spirit is spreading like a light throughout the Middle East today. In the Middle East, Leader Apo's ideas, ideology and the democratic nation project are having a growing impact day by day. With the revolution, our peoples continue to struggle for their economic, social, political and voluntary freedoms. They have fought hard for this, paid and continue to pay great prices, but they have also achieved great gains."

Underlining that the foundation laid by the PKK and the struggle it waged was decisive, Sara Qawas added, "If we live in Rojava in our own free system today despite all the attacks and occupations, if the peoples come together and claim the gains of the revolution through joint struggle, and if women freely claim their own will and take part in life in all areas of society, it is the result of the struggle waged by the PKK."
