PYD member slams Damascus over embargo on Shehba Canton

PYD General Assembly Member Mihemed Emin stressed that the resistance will grow as the attacks increase and that there is no other way than resisting for the people of Afrin to to return home in 2021.

Damascus government’s embargo on Shehba and the attacks of the Turkish state against the Shehba Canton are crimes against humanity, said Democratic Union Party (PYD) General Assembly Member Mihemed Emin.

‘A WAR CRIME'

Recalling the Turkish state's recent mortar attack on the district of Til Rifat, which killed 4 civilians, Emin stated that the Turkish state has committed a war crime. He pointed out that the Damascus government does not allow even basic food products into the canton.

Remarking that Russia is responsible for the crimes committed in the region and has lost its role as an observer, Emin said that Russia is turning a blind eye to the attacks of the Turkish state and the crimes committed by the Damascus government. “It is a party to crimes against people, mostly immigrants. We will not forget Russia's approval for the invasion of Afrin.”

“IMMORAL EMBARGO”

Noting that the people of Afrin are having difficulties due to the embargo, Emin continued: “International health organizations and human rights organizations report on the occurrence of epidemic diseases. The Damascus government does not even allow medicine to enter Shehba. Even serious patients are barely allowed to be brought to the hospital in Aleppo. For this reason, the number of deaths has increased compared to the previous year. The Caesar Act sanctions imposed by the USA in Syria affected the economic situation of the people of Shehba. However, the real challenge for the people of Shehba is the immoral embargo imposed by the Damascus government on the canton.”

"COLLABORATION WITH INVADERS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED"

Emphasizing that a possible cooperation between the Turkish state and the government of Damascus is unacceptable, Emin said, “We cannot accept any cooperation with the Turkish state, either secret or open. The government of Damascus imposes an embargo on its own people instead of trying to remove the occupying Turkish state from its territory. The Damascus government claims that Syria rules itself. If so, they should have opposed to the Turkish state occupying Afrin.”

"RESISTANCE IS THE ONLY WAY OUT"

Emphasizing that the people of Afrin demonstrated their strong will with their resistance, the PYD member underlined that nobody could break this will that has emerged. He stressed that the resistance will grow as the attacks increase and that there is no other way than resisting for the people of Afrin to to return home in 2021.
