MSD calls on Syrian people, parties and institutions to unite and develop national dialogue

MSD called on all parties in Syria to establish 'national dialogue' to act together in the spirit of national responsibility against those who oppose the unity of the country and develop national dialogue to resolve the conflicts in the region.

The Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) released a written statement on the 6th anniversary of the invasion attacks of the occupying Turkish state and its gangs on Afrin.

MSD stated that the Turkish state aimed to make Afrin a breaking point through the invasion attacks against Afrin launched six years ago. The people of Afrin demonstrated that the occupation forces could not frustrate their will with the relentless resistance they carried out for 58 days, MSD noted.

Drawing attention to the crime of ethnic genocide committed by the occupying Turkish army in the region, the statement said, "The Turkish state, which has committed inhumane crimes such as murder, kidnapping, harassment and rape, theft of citizens' property and destruction of nature in the Afrin region that has been occupied for six years, is now increasing its attacks on the production sites, infrastructure and civilian settlements of Syrians throughout the region. These brutal attacks reveal the fact that Turkey is an occupying, aggressive and bloodthirsty state."

The statement condemned the ongoing occupation of Afrin and other parts of North and East Syria and called on the international community, the Security Council, the European Union and the Arab League to play a role and end the occupation. The MSD urged the mentioned parties to “expel the groups that support the occupying Turkish state from the region, try them in international courts and ensure the safe return of the people of the region".

Addressing Syrians, political parties and institutions, MSD said, "Although we have differences of opinion on some issues, let us act together in the spirit of national responsibility against those who oppose the unity of the country and develop national dialogue to resolve the conflicts in the region. We will not succeed unless we put aside internal conflicts and build a strong unity against the genocidal policies against the Syrian people."
