Members of the Mihemed Şêxo Culture and Art Centre in Qamishlo announced their participation in the general mobilisation announced by the Autonomous Administration on 1 December 2024.

Members of the Qamishlo Mihemed Şêxo Culture and Art Centre, affiliated to the Mesopotamia Democratic Culture and Art Movement, made a statement announcing their participation in the general mobilisation announced by the Autonomous Administration on 1 December 2024.

Lorîn Derwêş, member of the Theatre Committee of the Mihemed Şêxo Culture and Art Centre, read the press statement on behalf of the group. Derwêş stated that the Northern and Eastern Syrian regions are going through a historic phase while the occupying Turkish state is expanding its attacks against the region day by day. She continued: “We will not leave our forces alone. We will organise ourselves under the umbrella of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to protect our values, culture and identity.”

Lorîn Derwêş announced that they formed a battalion of 40 people under the name of ‘Martyr Diyar’ in reference to Diyar Qamişlo (Bîlal Îbrahîm) who was martyred in the battle for Tishrin Dam.

The statement ended with the slogans ‘Bijî Berxwedana QSD’ (Long Live the SDF Resistance) and ‘Bijî Berxwedana Gelan’ (Long Live the Resistance of Peoples).
