Lawyer Cebir: Turkey constantly violates children's rights in Afrin

The Turkish state violated the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, said human rights defender lawyer Xalid Cebir adding: "The Turkish state is consciously targeting Kurdish children."

Speaking to ANF on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of the occupation of Afrin by Turkey, human rights defender lawyer Xalid Cebir said that the Turkish state continues to violate international law.

Cebir said that the victims of rights violations are especially the children of Afrin and added: "The Turkish state is targeting children in Northern and Eastern Syria in general and Afrin in particular. The aim of these attacks is to destroy the Kurdish people.

Children are targeted by the Turkish state because they are the next generation. International silence against these violations continues. However, international laws and the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child provided full protection for children, but a state like the occupying Turkish state violates all international agreements. It targets children, their schools and the infrastructure of the cities they live in, and this is a major human rights violation."
