Kurdish parties in North-East Syria continue working to determine a common political stance

Kurdish parties in North-East Syria, which have been working for some time to determine a common political stance for the solution of the Kurdish question in Syria and to play a role in the solution of the Syrian crisis, are taking important steps.

At a time when war and conflicts continue in the Middle East and the occupying Turkish state wants to pit Kurds against each other by planning new invasion attacks, Kurdish parties have also accelerated their struggle for unity.

Kurdish parties in Northern and Eastern Syria have been working for some time to determine a common political stance for the solution of the Kurdish question and the Syrian crisis.

Efforts to this end, the first steps of which were taken in 2013, have made significant progress and are moving towards a conclusion.

According to the information ANHA obtained from the senior officials of the parties involved in the process, the work was initiated as a result of the idea that "we should have a say in the solution of the Kurdish question in Syria and the Syrian crisis and create a ground for dialogue".

Talks started

The work started with invitations sent to the parties and dialogues held, and 24 political parties participated in the process and held discussions on common points.

Following dialogues that reached a certain maturity, a draft for the common political position paper was prepared on 29 December 2023. As a result of the ongoing discussions, 5 more articles were added to the draft, which consists of 9 articles.

ENKS rejected it from the beginning

As a result of the discussions on the draft, most of the parties agreed on common views, while 4 parties expressed their reservations on 3 articles of the draft. Discussions with these parties about these articles are ongoing.

While invitations were sent to all parties regardless of their political views, the first moment the work started, the ENKS, which has developed all kinds of dialogue with the occupying Turkish state and its gangs, rejected all negotiations from the beginning.

Draft shared with the people and intellectuals

The draft that emerged as a result of the discussions between the parties was then shared with the people and intellectuals. For this purpose, 7 meetings have been held since the beginning of March (2024) in Hesekê, Kobanê, Amûdê, Dêrik and Dirbêsiyê, and two in Qamişlo.

In the meetings attended by opinion leaders, intellectuals, writers and citizens, the draft text was read, discussions were held, and suggestions were received.

Party officials stated that the meetings have ended, and work is continuing to finalise the draft text in line with the evaluations and suggestions made.

Conference to be held after the finalisation of the draft

Party sources said that after the finalisation of the draft, a conference is planned in the absence of extraordinary developments. The conference, which will be attended by party representatives, intellectuals, writers and opinion leaders, is expected to be attended by between 150 and 200 people.

After the conference, where the draft text is planned to be finalised and approved, the results will be shared with the public and then a press conference will be organised on the subject.
