Hundreds more fighters withdraw from Ashrafiyah and Sheikh Maqsoud

Following the agreement reached between the Damascus government and the council of two Kurdish neighborhoods in Aleppo, a second group of military forces withdrew from Aleppo's Ashrafiyah and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods.

In accordance with the agreement signed between the General Council of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods and the government in Damascus, military forces continue withdrawing from the two neighborhoods.

On April 1, the Council of Sheikh Maqsoud (Şêxmeqsûd) and Ashrafiyah (Eşrefiyê) Neighborhoods and the Damascus Administration signed a 14-point agreement, including the promotion of coexistence, protection of residents, prevention of armed actions and regulation of internal security.

An article of the agreement envisaged the withdrawal of military forces from both neighborhoods to the eastern side of the Euphrates, taking their weapons with them.

Under the agreement, both sides have started to fulfill their obligations.

As part of Article 6 of the agreement, another group of military forces stationed in two neighborhoods withdrew to North-East Syria with their weapons and ammunition.

According to reports from the ground, the group consists of approximately 500 fighters.

The first group of military forces, consisting of 400 fighters, withdrew from the mentioned area on April 4 and the security of these areas was handed over to the Internal Security Forces (Asayish).

On April 3, 146 members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) were released in exchange for 97 members of the Damascus government.
