The Afrin Liberation Forces (HRE) released a statement announcing the martyrdom of two of their fighters in clashes with the invasion forces in the Afrin region which has been occupied since 2018.

"Our people of Afrin, who paid great prices at the beginning of the freedom march, struggled and resisted to protect the gains of the revolution, insisted on living in an honourable and patriotic manner. Our comrades Botan Efrin and Behdina Efrin were two brave and selfless comrades who worked to protect the gains of revolutionary values in the Afrin region. On 12 August 2024, a clash broke out between our team and the occupying enemy in the Afrin region and our comrades Botan and Behdina Efrîn were martyred,” said the HRE statement on Tuesday, which further included the following details about the fallen fighters:

BOTAN EFRIN

Our comrade Botan grew up in Afrin in a family committed to patriotism and Kurdish culture. He realised at a young age the reality of the enemy's attacks on our people and the policies of genocide and extermination, and therefore joined the ranks of the revolution. Since the beginning of the revolution, he has stood upright with the duties and responsibilities of the revolution in different places and times against the invading and ruthless mercenaries who have no sense of humanity. Especially in 2016, he took part in the liberation of Shehba, and in 2018, during the attack on Afrin, he fought a defence war against the Turkish occupation in response to all kinds of inhumane acts of the gang forces. Comrade Botan determined that the only way to fulfil this wish and respond to the enemy's actions was to join the ranks of our forces. Comrade Botan has achieved a strong participation with great excitement and enthusiasm with his hard work and sacrifice since the day he joined the struggle.

BEHDINA EFRIN

Comrade Behdina Efrîn, like Botan Efrîn, grew up in the city of Afrin in a family that adhered to its culture and tradition. When Rojava's liberation revolution began, he also joined the ranks of the revolution. He took his place in the positions of resistance and honour from the campaign to liberate Shehba to the Resistance of the Age. Especially after our people were forced to migrate to different regions, Comrade Behdina once again renewed his promise and joined the ranks of the Afrin Liberation Forces and took his place in the battle positions. Comrade Behdina fulfilled his duties and responsibilities from the day he joined until the last moment.

Our comrades Botan and Behdina have once again shown that wherever the enemy attacks our values, there will also be honourable youth. As the Afrin Liberation Forces, we promise that we will continue our struggle until we achieve this goal of our martyred comrades. Based on these principles, we extend our condolences to the families of our martyred comrades and to all our patriotic people."
