The Afrin Liberation Forces (HRE) released a statement announcing the death of one of their fighters, Diyar Xerîb. Accordingly, the HRE fighter lost his life while on duty in the Afrin region in northern Syria on 22 September.

“Diyar Xerîb, one of the valuable sons of Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq), fought with determination in many battlefields of Kurdistan. Finally, he took a revolutionary stance against the enemies of the revolution and the people by moving to Rojava Kurdistan. On 22 September 2024, he joined the caravan of martyrs while performing his duty in the Afrin region,” said the HRE obituary on Sunday, which includes the following:

“Our comrade Diyar Xerîb, whose code name is Karwan Hecî, was born in a patriotic family in Zakho. At the beginning of the crisis and chaos in the Middle East, when the gangs were attacking Rojava and Southern Kurdistan, he joined the resistance on the streets together with his people. Like every Kurdish youngster, he developed self-defence to defend his people. Comrade Diyar joined the ranks of the revolution, inspired by his anger against the enemy and the heroic stories of the Kurdish people. He took part in the most difficult periods in Southern Kurdistan and then headed to Rojava.

Comrade Diyar knew that only with a strong struggle and a will of steel could he wage a relentless war against the invaders. For this reason, he constantly educated himself and became aware of the enemy mentality, politics and dirty policies against our people. With his war experience, he took part in the forefront with great sacrifice in the Serêkaniyê Resistance, as in the operation to liberate Baxoz in 2019.

Comrade Diyar showed an exemplary stance with his struggle against al-Nusra, ISIS and other gang groups supported by the occupying Turkish state. In line with this struggle, he moved to Afrin, joined the Afrin Liberation Forces and played an active role in the liberation campaigns. Every time, he was at the forefront. With his self-sacrificing spirit, he showed great leadership as both a fighter and a commander.

As HRE, we once again pledge that we will crown the goals of our martyrs with victory. We will always hold high the flag of struggle that Comrade Diyar Xerîb passed on to us. On this occasion, we extend our condolences to all the people of Kurdistan and our patriots, especially Diyar Xerîb's dear family.”
