Dozens of citizens, tribal opinion leaders, civil society organizations, military councils and political party members from Hol district and the town of Erîşa gathered at the tent set up to participate in a two-day hunger strike. The hunger strike was organized within the scope of support for the resistance of political in prisons in Turkey and Kurdistan to demand freedom for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
These actions, organized by the Cizre Canton People's Initiative, included solidarity hunger strikes in the cities of Dêrik, Girkê Legê, Tirbespiyê, Til Hemîs, Qamishlo, Amûdê and Hesekê.
Erîşa Town Council co-chair Ewad El Salih condemned the silence of the occupying Turkish state regarding the situation of Abdullah Öcalan and said: "The spirit of struggle will not fade away until the people of the region achieve their goals and make the Leader free."
Kongra Star member Şeyma Hemad drew attention to the importance of organizing this action and said: "This action is not our first, it is the continuation of the resistance carried out by Mazlum Doğan, Kemal Pîr and their friends in Amed Prison, which charted a path for us."
According to the preparation committee, the protest, where the hunger strike continues, will last 2 days.
