Final farewell to Anter Dersim in Qamishlo

Thousands of people paid their last respects to revolutionary Anter Dersim, who died of a heart attack in Rojava, in Qamişlo.

The Kurdish revolutionary Anter Dersim (Kazim Ergün), who died of a heart attack, was laid to rest in Qamişlo amid great sympathy. Thousands of people gathered in the Enteriyê neighborhood to escort the coffin to the Delîl Saroxan Cemetery of Martyrs.

The funeral ceremony began with a minute's silence. Afterwards, Hisên Ibêd of the Council of Martyrs’ Families offered condolences to the relatives who watched the funeral live in Europe and to the people of the Autonomous Region of North and East Syria. "To do justice to Şehîd Anter, we must continue our struggle. He was a revolutionary who dedicated his entire life to the liberation struggle. We give him our word that we will follow in his footsteps," Hisên Ibêd said.

TEV-DEM co-chair Zelal Ceger said in a speech that Anter Dersim belonged to the first generation of the Kurdish liberation movement: "When the revolution started in Kurdistan, he did not hesitate to go back to his country to serve it. He left his small family behind to fight for his big family. He always said that his small family could not be free until the country was liberated."

Zelal Ceger pointed out that Anter Dersim has been active in different parts of Kurdistan and has also worked in Turkey and Europe to spread the ideas of Abdullah Ocalan: "He was a patriot and a revolutionary. For all the patriotic families who knew him, he was at the same time a companion, a brother and a father. In northeastern Syria, he worked steadfastly to organize people for the people's revolutionary war, despite his poor health.”

After the reading of the martyrdom certificate, Dersim Anter was laid to rest with slogans.
