‘Deir ez-Zor attack shows that the regime does not want peace and dialogue’

The MSD Co-Chair said that the attacks by the Damascus government and the 'Dîfa Watanî' gangs in Deir ez-Zor took place simultaneously with the internal dialogue initiatives launched by MSD.

The Co-Chair of the Syrian Democratic Assembly (MSD), Mehmûd El-Mislet, spoke to ANHA regarding the wave of attacks by the Damascus Government and allied Difa al-Watanî [National Defense Forces] gangs in the Deir ez-Zor region.

The MSD Co-Chair stated that the aim of these attacks is to undermine the security of the region and said, "We absolutely reject the attacks conducted against our people in Deir ez-Zor. The regime and its militias are responsible for these crimes."

El-Mislet stressed that these attacks, carried out at a time when they are trying to create a suitable ground for internal dialogue, are clear evidence that the regime rejects peace and dialogue.

Mehmûd El-Mislet saluted the resistance of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Internal Security Forces against the attacks and said, "We express our condolences to the families of our martyrs and wish a speedy recovery to our wounded." He called on all tribes to stand against the attacks on the security of the region.

At around 02.00 on Wednesday night, Damascus Government Forces and 'Dîfa al-Watanî' gangs launched a ground attack on the villages of Zîba, Şihêl, Teyana, Derenc, Ebû Herdûb, Ebû Hemam, Letwa, Geranîc and Besîra in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Canton. SDF fighters responded effectively to the attacks and repelled them. As a result of the attacks, 2 civilians were martyred, 7 civilians were wounded and 2 water stations set on fire by the gangs were left out of service.
